Tim joined me today for another good day on Lake Memphremagog. The morning was a little chilly and 41 degrees. It was sunny but very cold with light N/NW winds. The offshore humps were producing the bigger fish as Tim locked up with several 3s & 4s in the morning. Most of the bigger fish once again came from deeper water. The Barometer was about as high as it could possibly get and this wasnt helping. We stayed deep all day and managed to get about 30 to 50 smallmouth up to 4.5 pounds. A pretty good day all in all!

Fred was back today, but this time with his Niece, Emilie. She hasnt fished much and I was determined to get her into a few cannon sized smallmouth. Air temp 61, humid & damp with drizzle. Wind S/SW 5 to 10 mph increased to 10 to 20 with gusts closer to 35 mph. Just a lovely day! Emilie caught several big fish, up to 4 pounds and many little ones around 1 to 2 pounds as well. By afternoon we had to change lakes due to the big waves it was producing. We relocated on a nearby, smaller lake and tried to get into a fewtrout, but missed two strikes with the fly lines. Once again, we were forced off the lake when an electrical storm blew in. Probably the toughest day on the water this year thanks to Mother Nature!!!

Fred & I fished Memphremagog today with great success on the bigger fish. The morning air was a chilly 37 degrees but warmed up to 72 by the end of the day. The water temperatures were 57 to 63 degrees, depending on where you were and the wind was from the N but light & cool. Lots of bass roaming the shallows but not taking. Too close to the spawn! The offshore areas produced better quality fish. The pre spawn females were feeding! Average 3 to 5 pound fish were willing to take the Jerk-Baits with regularity. Close to, if not over 50 Smallmouth up to 5 pounds were caught today. Excellent day for size!

A slight twist today with Martin Forget on a nearby lake for Lake Trout. We trolled streamers with fly rods and had 5 takes. Four of them locked up with fish and three turned out to be Lake Trout up to 6 pounds. The other fish was a sucker of about 6 pounds as well. Believe it or not, he actually hit the fly over 30 feet of water. The air was 60 degrees and the water barely 50. Winds out of the north at 5 to 10 mph. Chilly conditions for most of the day. We fished until about 1:30 PM and then got off the lake. An average day for trout and salmon usually sees about 5 or 6 pulls on the fly rods in a half day fishing.

Jim & Jim were back again today for some more bronzeback action once more. The morning air was 64 & the water was 61 degrees. The wind was absolutely insane today! Light S winds increasing, then dying by noon. They then swung around to the N/W and cooled the air by 2:00 PM. The cold air mass really shifted the bite from shallow to deep water and then down to a crawl. We caught fish in the shallows in the morning then in 15 to 25 feet in the afternoon. A storm came in by 3:00 PM and with it winds, rain & thunder. Off we went! Over 50 bass were caught today under extreme conditions. All things considered, a great day!!
