With the ice season officially drawing to an end, today would be the last day for walleye around Montreal. A slightly later than expected start saw me out just before 2:00, with plenty of time to capture some quality eyes. Christiane would be joining me after work and just in time for the best bite. In fact when she arrived it was like they had been waiting for her! She wasn’t even able to get completely dressed before she had landed a handful of decent sized fish. Although the air temps weren’t too cold, the winds made it feel more like minus 10. This has been the windiest winter I can remember but not surprising after the windiest summer we had before. We managed to land several more before darkness arrived and pulled the plug on yet another season of hard water fishing. There were many great fish released this season and some really tasty tailgate BBQ’s. Soon it will be time to release the boat from hibernation and get into some serious open water fishing. Bring on the warm weather!!

Over the last several months there have been many issues with my Website. I’d like to take this time to apologize to anyone affected by these changes. Emails were sent to the Junk file without ever being seen and automatically deleted after 10 days. Pics from previous reports have been deleted and are presently in the process of being retrieved. Basically a « Hand Grenade » was thrown into the site and I am slowly picking up the pieces! If you were one of the ones that tried to contact me, please resend any and all requests and I will respond immediately. I have also added my cell phone number to the Website in several areas for quicker response time. There should be no more issues with the contact & reservations page so feel free to use that as well. The hard water season has been a long one but an incredibly good one too. Many huge walleye have been landed, photographed & released to spawn this year. Big pike and sturgeon have also come through the holes and I almost wish it wasn’t over. With one more day left in the winter season before it closes, you can rest assured that I will be spending it on the ice. Another « Tailgate » BBQ and loads of fun will end it with a bang! With spring technically here, all we need now is a little melt down and I will be back on the open water once again. I am presently taking bookings for trout/salmon, pike/walleye and bass/sturgeon for this season. As always, I will try to accommodate everyone but for a guarantee, please book in advance. With this cold weather I don’t know how much trout/salmon I will be doing before the pike/walleye season opens in Montreal. Most lakes will likely still be frozen long after the opener this year! I’m sure everyone out there can agree that enough is enough, bring on the warm temps! As always I look forward to seeing all the old faces and hopefully many new ones as well this year. High number fish days are just around the corner and « It Won’t Be Long Now »! Plenty more reports will soon follow.

Hicham was back with me again and he brought along some new blood. Terrick was being initiated into fall fishing, or should I say winter fishing! We spent the entire day in a blizzard that had little to no visibility. Amazingly though, there were no other boats around. I guess the trick is to fish on the shittiest days if you don’t want to be followed! We were finally able to cover the water the way it should be and monopolized on each & every place we hit. Hicham was on fire today as he stabbed many quality bass and walleye. His friend took a little longer to get orientated, but eventually held his own too. The snow was falling so hard at times that it blanketed the entire boat white. I informed them not to move quickly and really pay attention, as the floor was nicely glazed. We didn’t need any accidents today! We quit a little earlier today as the conditions wouldn’t be nice for the drive home. On our last spot though, Terrick landed a really nice northern before we called it a day. The weather may have been miserable but the fishing more than made up for it today. It did make for really nice pics too!!

Reda & his brother fished with me today but under horrible conditions again. I headed out with Reda first and he landed a couple of giant sturgeon before we went back to pick up his brother. Waves were three footers with some fours & fives thrown in just for fun. We went back out and managed a few more walleye & another giant sturgeon but fishing was next to impossible. They missed over 75% of the chances they had and we called it around 4:00. Alright, "Mother Nature" wins more often than not!!

What a difference a day makes! Darren & Dave were with me today and the conditions couldn’t have been more opposite. Strong gusting winds from the west were listed as" Gale Force" and we were right in them! It was the first time this season that I actually had to drop anchor for a while. Overall they fended quite well as plenty of decent fish were landed and several rather large ones too. Oh yeah, no other boats around! Mother Nature doesn’t always win!!
