Quebec Fishing Reports
Northern Smallie ActionSeptember 3, 2025
Bill & Cheryl were in from Tennessee and looking for smallmouth. Fortunately, they came to the right place as this was to be their best day ever for bass. In fact, one might call it epic! On the first spot, they were both into double digits and it didn’t stop there. Our second place was even better with larger fish being caught. Both were in their glory with these feisty fish and there were plenty!
Dropshotting was what they did today and between the two of them the numbers were high. Although not all of the fish were big, there were enough to keep them satisfied. What was suppose to be a full day turned out to be shorter than I expected when they decided to call it before 1:00. They had caught so many fish that they were ready to go!
Bill and his wife Cheryl definitely had a banner day today, with very little down time. It seemed like one or both of them were always hooked up. The cooler nights must be having an effect on the fish as my deep bite is slowing down. The shallow fish are becoming more active and this should continue into the next couple of months. High number days should now be the norm as we head into the fall and the biggest bass of the season show up to play. Looking forward to seeing what’s ahead and catching more of those footballs again! Great day on the water today!!

A Grandparents DayAugust 28, 2025
I was back out today, after taking some time off for a trip to Plummers Lodge. It was the most amazing Lake Trout fishing I have ever seen! Today however I was with Scarlet, Elliot and their grandparents for bass & walleye. Both the kids managed to get into fish and Scarlet nearly landed her first ever musky, but it somehow escaped the net. They fished hard all day but the big west winds sent us off the lake earlier than expected. The waves made drifting very difficult and bites hard to detect. By 2:30 we called it a day and headed back to the docks. Overall, it was still an excellent outing with plenty of fish to keep everyone satisfied!!

Rolling ThunderAugust 14, 2025
Faisal and a couple of his friends were with me this morning until we got chased off the lake by a storm. Up until then, they hooked into quite a few fish and landed both bass and walleye. We moved around several times and finished on the area we had begun, with them hooking a few more before we were done. Thunder storms were coming and I didn’t want to be caught on the water! Although a little slower than I had hoped, they still managed to take some fish home with them to eat. A fun morning nonetheless!!

Roasting HeatwaveAugust 13, 2025
Ken and his 3 sons joined me this morning for a late start. We were doing a 4-hour trip right in the middle of the day and the heat. No wind would make it even hotter! Dropshotting was the method used to get into the fish and there were many bites. Everyone did manage to catch, but unfortunately more fish were missed or lost than landed. Right until the end, bites were had! We finally ended the trip at 1:30 and the breeze felt good. With zero wind all day, under the blazing sun, we all roasted. Just another day in paradise, I guess!!

More Hot ActionAugust 12, 2025
Andrew, his son Nicolas and Aka were with me today for another scorcher of a day! Dropshotting was going to be the method used for most part and it started with a bang. Both Andrew & his son hooked up quickly and it just never stopped. Throughout the day, they were on fire! Aka also managed to get her fair share of bites but her fish always seemed a little smaller.
Time passed quickly from morning into afternoon and the bites kept coming. They really didn’t go long between fish and everywhere we stopped, they caught! Right until the last minutes of the day, someone was hooked up. We even ended on a high with Aka catching the last bass. Although not every fish was big, they were all still fun to catch! I think we were all glad it was over, as we were able to enjoy the breeze on the run back!
Today was another numbers day with plenty of fish hooked and either landed or lost along the way. It was also one of the hottest days of the year so far, with temps reaching the mid 90’s by the time we were done. There doesn’t seem to be a break in the weather for a few more days, so I guess I’ll just have to endure more of this heat again. It won’t matter however, if the fishing is equally as hot!!
