    Punishment Day

I fished with Andre & Jim once again today on Lake St-Francis. They fished with me at the beginning of the year and were back for some more punishment, due to the weather, Mother Nature was not going to be kind today! The day began with 25-knot winds from the northwest and rain. If you thought that was bad enough, well it got even worse! The temperatures dropped from over 50 degrees to below freezing during the day. Add four hours of snow squalls and you have the makings of the perfect day! We managed to endure all that she had to throw at us and still came up with about 30 bass in the 2.5 to 4.5 pound range. There was a couple that even went close to 5 pounds, landed! This had to be the worst day spent on the water this year with all the weather changes we had. Thankfully, the fishing more than made up for the day of misery!

    Misery

I fished with Warren on Lake St-Francis today. The conditions were miserable! It rained all day and the air temps were only about 50 degrees. Thank god for the spectacular fishing to keep us somewhat comfortable. Somewhere around 30 bass were caught with a bonus 5 pound largemouth also being taken. All the fish were once again release in order to conserve the future of our fishing. Several quick photos were taken to preserve the memory of the day. An excellent day to say the least!

    Lower End

I fished with Minya & Anthony today on the St-Lawrence River. The conditions were tough and the fishing was slow. The weather was in the upper 40’s and the water temps were about the same. Tubes, spider grubs and some crankbaits accounted for the 25 or more bass up to 5 pounds that were caught. The rain that was forecasted managed to hold out until the end of the day and we were very thankful under these conditions. Overall, a very productive day under these conditions!

    Freakin’ Cold

I fished with max & Dens again today and this time they brought another guest. This was the first time that Ben was going to experience smallmouth bass fishing at it’s finest. Lake St-Francis was going to be the place of choice today and the weather wasn’t going to cooperate very well. Another northeast wind in a western current direction had the waves blowing us all over the map. Trying to cast to specific targets in open water wasn’t easy, but they prevailed! Max got top honors with the largest bass of the day going 5.5 pounds. There were plenty of others in the 4 to 4.5 range, but they really had to be worked for. By the end of the day, there were at least 25 smallmouth bass caught & released! All in all, an excellent day based on “Mother Nature’s” idea of a joke!

    Twins

I fished with two brothers, Joseph & John today, once again in Mississquoi Bay. The fishing began pretty well with one of them locking up with a three pounder on his first couple of casts. Crankbaits were the lures of choice as both of them managed to catch fish all day long. Along with the smallmouth bass were several large northerns & a largemouth of over 5 pounds. We stayed out of the wind all day and were thankful to be able to do so! All I all a great day with close to 50 fish being hooked during the day!
