Mixing It UpJune 22, 2025
Tom was with me this morning, along with a couple of his coworkers. We had a mixed fishing day, beginning with trolling and ending with dropshotting. Casting cranks & soft plastics in between allowed them to boat both bass and walleye. With a later start and earlier finish, it cut our day short. Regardless, they had a good time. Six hours of fishing in total, but some really nice eyes were boated!!

Double TimeJune 18, 2025
Double trips today with Rich in the morning and Darrin & his son Ryan in the afternoon. Both turned out to be productive with plenty of trolling for pike & walleye. Rich spent the last 30 minutes of the morning targeting bass and had several shots at them. Unfortunately, he only managed to land one, but it was a great one.
The afternoon saw similar results on the pike and walleye and Ryan was able to complete his request for them. Having never caught either before, he was quite happy to tick them off his young, bucket list.
Winds were almost nonexistent today and the heat was definitely upon us, as I grinded it out till the very end. The fish are also on the move and beginning to set up in their summer locations. Things are changing and adjustments are needed to have successful days now. Looks like the soft plastics and dropshot rigs will be coming out soon. I can’t wait to add those to the arsenal. Hopefully the next time out!!

Young AnglersJune 15, 2025
Today I had the pleasure of having a mom and her two kids on the boat! Isabelle, Atlas & Orion had a blast just being on the water and the fish were a bonus. Plenty of pike and one walleye were caught by the kids with mom capturing everything on her phone. In between bites, the two played in the livewell with the fish. Most were eventually returned, except for one. They were going to have it for dinner tonight!
Half days always go by fast and before we knew it, it was time to head in. On our way back, the kids both took their turn at driving the boat, with a little help from me of course! I think this was the highlight of their fishing day. I always love teaching young kids about fishing and I think they will be wanting more. They also have a package waiting for them at Canadian Tire, compliments of mom’s online shopping today! I’m sure it’ll get plenty of use too!

Fish TacosJune 15, 2025
I was back on this water today with Justin, Bill (Boots) as well as Colton & Tyler. We had another day of NE winds and this one began cooler than it should be, for this time of the year. The water temps were also colder than I would have liked and this scattered the fish once again.
I trolled all over today and switched lures and depth throughout to get the numbers we did. Another day of mixed pike and walleye and a few bass at the end. Tomorrow starts the season for bass and I will be targeting them as well. Each species will now be open and this will make the fishing much easier.
Overall, today was a bit of a grind but there was no shortage of quality fish. We may have had a few dead periods but in the end, they all had a great time landing plenty of fish. They even managed to take some of them home for fish tacos tonight. No complaints there!!

Wind ChangeJune 13, 2025
This was the first time this week that I was able to get out fishing. The windy conditions were unreal! Thankfully it switched overnight, allowing us to finally head out. Too bad the winds were from the N/E when we began, but at least they weren’t 25 to 5o kmh.
Dale and his wife Vicki managed to enjoy a morning filled with sunshine and fish. Although mostly pike, Dale was able to bring a good walleye in the boat, right at the end. Last fish and it was a beauty!
It may have been a challenge to locate fish, but we definitely got on them in the end. Great morning trip for this couple!
