Mother Nature Sucks

Orion was finishing off his week of business and would be flying back to Atlanta after we were done. Little did he know that it would probably be one, if not the best day of fishing he had ever experienced!

With water temps barely above 50 degrees, I decided to begin a little deeper and almost instantly we were into fish. Pike after pike came aboard but the walleye didn’t seem to want to bite. After boating close to a dozen, I decided to venture shallower to see if they were there. Unfortunately, the pike were shallow as well and we continued to rack up the numbers.

Our morning had only seen northerns with zero signs of the walleye. This all changed however and good numbers of them soon came aboard. A mix of high-end keepers and big overs were landed by Orion and he was having a blast. We trolled the entire day and had action for the most part. The weather even cooperated better than I expected and little to no rain fell upon us. I did however raise the roof earlier in the day when the first shower arrived and left it up all day.

Today was a great, post spawn bite day and plenty of fish were landed. Orion left with a sense of satisfaction and sore arms from all the fish he had caught. Hopefully the next time he has to come here for a business trip, he’ll join me again for another banner day of fishing. Looking forward to our next adventure!!

Stormy Weather

What a day I had today! Two bookings, with a large group scheduled for the afternoon that required a couple of additional boats. Mike and Warren helped me out and we each took 3 guys, splitting the bachelor party up evenly. The morning saw me flying solo with Jeff and his group and we picked at the fish. I had lost almost 10 degrees in water temp and this had the fish lethargic, to say the least! By covering water through various depth zones, I was able to get them into both pike and walleye. Unfortunately, it was cut a little short, when thunder and lightning sent us running back to the dock. I wasn’t sticking around, with electricity in the air! We were done for the morning!

The afternoon trip was slightly delayed, due to the weather and we waited out the worst in the parking lot. Once the weather cleared, we made our way out for a great afternoon of fishing. Everyone had multiple fish catches and the bachelor party was a success! As with the morning however, we cut it a bit short towards the end. The rain started up, heavily again! Unanimous decisions saw us calling it quits and back we went.

To say today was interesting would be an understatement. It was definitely a challenge! Mother nature tried a few times to shut me down, but we zigged and zagged around the worst, making this a very successful day. No complaints, just a little wet!!

The Troll Continues

Chai & Denis experienced another great day of fishing today that began quickly. Within a few minutes after starting the troll, they were into a walleye double. The rest of the day saw constant action both with walleye and pike. With the water temps climbing into the 60-degree range, they have gotten more active and aggressive. Just like the start of the day, we ended on a high with a couple more fish coming aboard before we were done. Overall, a great day filled with plenty of action and fantastic weather as well. I only hope it will continue!!

A May Summer Day

Jacque and Mark experienced their best day of fishing today, catching plenty of fish. Although mostly pike, there were a few walleye in the mix! Flat calm conditions made it more difficult to get the big numbers, but they caught fish all day long. We even ended on a high with another pike before we were done. Beautiful day on the lake with no suffering at all today!!

Finessing The Fish

Lynette and her family spend a great afternoon on the water today, catching all kinds of fish. Although mostly pike, there were several nice walleye in the mix, but all too big! Water temps were barely 51 degrees and it took some finesse work to make them bite. Their son Phillip may have landed almost all of the fish, but his mother was able to reel a few in when we had doubles. A great day to be fishing!
