Yvan was up for anything and agreed to spend some time trying for one last fish. We were fortunate to have conditions that were good enough to get bit and that we did. Although it wasn\u2019t a big one, it was a sturgeon! We had only spent a couple of hours in the area, before reeling the lines and going for bass. We had accomplished our goal and were moving on!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I pulled into an area that was holding good fish and we worked it over hard. It wasn\u2019t on fire, but the fish we got were big ones. I made a move to another area nearby after thoroughly covering this spot. Apparently, it was the right move as it was here that the biggest fish of the day were landed. I made several adjustments on the baits, just to keep them biting. Whenever they stopped, a different technique was introduced to entice them to bite again. Yvan managed to boat many big bass from here, before we decided to change fish species all together. We were going to try and see if we could get into a musky and complete the slam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I had made a long run and set the two lines in for a troll. It wasn\u2019t looking great, but we had a chance. Multiple passes were made over different depths and we were running out of time, when it happened. The deep rod got hit and the reel screamed hard! This fish took 15 feet of line and somehow managed to come unpinned before I got it out of the rod holder. What a disappointment! Our one chance ended in heartbreak. What could have been the perfect ending wasn\u2019t to be. I trolled for a bit longer before we called it a day. Despite the loss, today was still a great one filled with some really good fish and comfortable fishing conditions. The last day of October went out with a bang and Yvan enjoyed every minute of his trip. Hopefully November will be kind as well, allowing me to get in several more days on the water.
