Quebec Fishing Reports
Flat & Hotjuillet 1, 2025
Kristina had to reschedule her trip with me for tomorrow as the ramp and weather was going to bee an issue. She was flexible and we arranged an afternoon trip today instead. She was joined by her mother and son today and they hoped to get into a few fish that they had never caught before.
Although the conditions were tough with 90 plus degree heat & humidity and flat water, we grinded out a few of the species on their list. Her son August managed walleye, bass and a good-sized sturgeon at the worst part of the day. We fished from about 12:15 until 4:30 PM. Brutal, to say the least!

Third Time’s A Charmjuin 29, 2025
It always amazes me how a little bad weather can keep everyone off the water! Today I had a couple from Mexico that met me at the ramp, later than my usual afternoon trip time. They drove back from Quebec City in pouring rain to arrive by 1:00. I was the only trailer in the lot! The lake was no different with zero boats anywhere! We literally had the place to ourselves!
I had decided earlier that I wanted to get them into several different species, that they had never seen and accomplished my goal. Luis & Diana were able to land bass, walleye and sturgeon in the short time we were out.
The conditions changed often with both wind direction and heavy cloud cover, to total sunshine. The fish also adjusted making it quite challenging. Multiple lure & bait changes were used to capture all the fish in this short 4-hour trip. In the end however, it all worked out. They had definitely saved the best for last with their Canadian vacation. Now they can say that they’ve fished and caught on a Canadian freshwater lake!!

Hateful SE Windsjuin 28, 2025
Day 3 with Sam & Stan and plenty of bass were landed. Too bad they were almost all on the smaller side and not really picture worthy. Stan did get one good one early in the day that was worth a shot, but it was the only one. We moved around a bunch and caught fish wherever we stopped. They even managed to get into a bunch of walleye on cranks that were all in the slot! The winds kind of handcuffed me from doing what I had wanted and we had to cast all the spots instead. A big blow out of the SE and even bigger waves at the ramp for the takeout! The perfect end to their trip!!

Strange Surprisesjuin 27, 2025
Sam & his brother Stan had an interesting day on the water as Mother Nature blew once again! Winds were out of the NE and the temperatures dropped significantly. It was actually cold this morning when we began!
I decided to start back where we did well yesterday but soon found out it wasn’t the same. With only a handful of bass caught, we were forced to change areas quickly. I made a long run to try and escape the winds and eventually did just that. We hit several areas on this side and were fairly protected on all.
I jumped all over throughout the day and found some fish in each spot we fished. IIn one particular bass zone, they actually landed a pile of walleye. This was quite a surprise, but a welcomed one nonetheless!
The remainder of the day saw similar results with a mix of fish. The highlights of the day had to be when Sam hooked into a big fish on a dropshot that ended up being a catfish. Stan also battled a huge sturgeon to the boat that was his first ever dinosaur.
Although today may not have been what I had hoped for, plenty of good fish were caught. Of course, the winds laid down in the end, but this allowed me to do a little dropshotting. One last bass was caught by Stan before we called it a day. Tougher than usual bite, but always a great day for fishing!!

Bass Dayjuin 26, 2025
Sam and his brother Stan experienced the best smallmouth bass fishing, so far this season! They had travelled from Tennessee to battle bronzebacks and weren’t disappointed today. It may have taken a while to find the bigger ones, but in the end, they did in spades!
Another scorcher of a day still didn’t have the water above 70 degrees, but the fish didn’t care. Thy bit on blades, cranks and several soft plastics. It was the first day that I had targeted strictly bass and They were in different stages, in several of the places we fished. I definitely covered lots of water today! One spot saw the best action and it was here that we spent the most time. Big fish and plenty!
The entire day was filled with plenty of laughs as they competed on the bass. Hopefully tomorrow will be equal or better than today as they are here for 3 days. Who knows, maybe even a few Walters will come out to play. I may even pull out the big sticks for a little sturgeon action too! Only time will tell, but one thing for sure, they’ll be catching loads more fish!!
