Another Flat One

Doc would be with me for 4 days with his grandsons and today was going to be number one. Jack & Charlie brought another friend, so we would be having a full boat. Caluum was their guest but was more like family to them. I guess Doc had 3 grand kids on the boat instead!

Practically zero wind greeted us as we headed to our first spot to fish. It was going to be another hot, flat kind of day! The first drift had everyone hooked up but it was Doc that drew first blood with a small bass. Multiple passes over the area saw numerous hookups but only a percentage of the fish were landed. Both bass & small eyes were caught before the floating weeds just took us out. They had drifted over to where we were fishing and it was next to impossible to keep the lines clean. Time to make a move!

Afte trying another area, unsuccessfully, I made a long run to a spot for more bass. Everyone managed to land multiple fish in the shallows. A quick change up saw a couple of sturgeon also coming abord before they decided to be one with the fish. It was so hot that they all went swimming before their lunch break! While they ate, I dropped a line in the deep water and landed a couple of bass. This told me what I was gong to be doing when they were done!

After a quick lunch break and they were back to fishing once again. We were drifting and dropshotitng deep rocks and stuck with it until we were out of time. We fished over areas that yielded plenty of fish in the remaining hours and eventually called it a day. I think everyone was a little tired anyway!

Today was only the first of their four days and it was a successful one. Although not all the fish were big ones, we had numbers. Everyone caught loads of fsih and lost probably even more. It was another great day to be fishing!!
