Another double trip today had Elan’s family in the morning and Samantha’s family in the afternoon. Both groups caught fish, but the second party saw more action. The overnight thunder storms had the fish in a bit of a funk when we began and it took a while to get the first rip. The fish were definitely shut down and scattered, causing me to cover a lot of water for the bites. Despite all of this, there were still some good fish landed!

The afternoon started out with us heading elsewhere, due to the increasing winds. They were blowing from the west at 20 to 30 and this increased the size of the waves. With two kids on board, I wanted to find an area to fish that was somewhat protected. Unfortunately, I had to settle for one that was only slightly better. It didn’t seem to matter though as we were quickly hooked up!

Although it wasn’t fast & furious this afternoon, there was still plenty of action. The two kids boated both pike and walleye and many of them. I had to troll differently this afternoon, due to the wind direction, but the results were great. By the time we were done they had boated enough fish to keep them happy and even had a few walleye to take back home. The 4 of them would be eating good tonight!

Today was a bit of a challenge and adjustments were needed to put everyone on fish. In the end, the afternoon was definitely the better half of the day, with 2 happy kids catching more fish than they could have imagined. As always, Mother Nature rules and today it showed. The overnight weather definitely had the fish in a negative mood this morning. I’m sure glad they changed their attitude this afternoon!!
