Refining Techniques
octobre 31, 2024
Craig & herm were with me today and we headed to another body of water to fish. The winds were going to be big and there would be no way we were getting out on the local waters. Another road trip was definitely on the agenda today!
Our first stop had them both tossing blades over shallow water in search of a few aggressive bass. Too bad the fish didn’t know as Craig got the only bite and it didn’t hook up. I slid out to the deeper edge and it was here that Herm finally broke the ice with a small bass. Craig soon followed, but his fish was considerably larger. We finally had the first big fish of the day! Too bad it was the only one!
I changed areas and presentations on the next location and they both began hooking up. Although not all big fish, the numbers were definitely better now. A mix of fish were coming board, but the fish were still not very aggressive. Many short strikes occurred and plenty of missed fish were seen. Herm did however hook into a big fish that may have been taken away by an even bigger predator when he broke off. The line actually was a clean cut that led me to believe that it was caused by a toothy critter!
We covered plenty of water and they continued to catch many more bass throughout the afternoon. A few moves were made with some minor adjustments and Herm finally locked up on a real giant. We took precautions to ensure that it made it to the net and he was soon rewarded with the biggest fish of the day. Plenty of pics were taken and she was released unharmed.
We spent the remainder of the afternoon working hard to get bit and they were rewarded several more times before we were done. Nothing came easy today but by refining the techniques, they were able to catch plenty of good, quality bass. Big winds had caused us to travel to these waters and based on tomorrow’s forecast, we may be back again. Craig & Herm are with me for the second day and I only hope they fend as well as they did today. Only time will tell!!
