Two New Species
juillet 14, 2024
Mike & Kevin were in from New Hampshire and looking for a couple of new species of fish to catch. I mentioned pike & walleye and they were all over that! I told them that we would be trolling and covering water to get the bites. This also sounded good to them and we headed to our first area to fish.
I began where I had been catching the last few times out, but the bite was really slow. I thought that with the water levels rising lately that the fish might have repositioned and apparently, I was right. When I moved shallower, the reels began to fire. Both pike and walleye were now coming aboard and the numbers began to rise. The size also got better as Mike and Kevin both landed some really nice fish.
I covered plenty of water in search of the fish and found them in several areas during the morning. As they only had a half day booked, I needed to make sure we remained on fish. The high water seemed to have driven some of the bigger fish up shallow and a slight adjustment had them hooked up, often.
To say that this morning was productive would have been an understatement. Mike and Kevin boated plenty of fish in a short period of time and managed to tick off a couple of new species from their bucket lists. Great times were had by all!
