Jeff & his wife Alisa were with me this morning, for a half day of fishing. They were hoping to catch some pike and walleye and I knew just where to go. We hit the water in a big SW wind and had to make a long run to where we were starting. The smooth moves seats were definitely a comfort in the big, twisting waves!

I set up the lines once we arrived and began a troll, in search of some active fish. It didn’t take long for the first reel to fire and Jeff was into a heavy fish. Too bad we’ll never know what it was, as it bogged him down in the weeds and just came off. The second fish was for Alisa and at least she got to fight it, almost all the way to the boat. It too came off, just out of reach of the net. It was time for some payback!

After the fish got up on us, two to nothing, we rallied back with a beating they won’t soon forget. For the next few hours, reels were firing constantly and they were fighting one fish after the other. Both pike and walleye were coming aboard and plenty of pics were being taken. Some of the fish were quite large and several of the walleye were true giants for these waters. They were even fortunate enough to catch many smaller ones as well that fell in the slot. These would be on the menu, for their dinner tonight.

Time passed by quickly with this trip only a half day, but not before a few more fish were caught. I packed everything up after and strapped a few things down for the ride back. I knew it was going to be bumpy, but I also knew that we would stay dry.

Jeff & Alisa were excited before the trip began this morning, but even more excited when we were done. The numbers of quality fish landed in just 4 hours was well beyond their expectations. I was pretty sure when we began that we would have a great day, when I saw the winds and overcast skies. Lately the bite has been on fire and today’s conditions only made it better. I can only imagine how many fish would have been caught, had this been a full day of fishing. Great times were had by all and we have plenty of pics to prove it!!
