Another 3 Generations
juillet 16, 2024
Today I had another outing, fishing with a family of 3 generations and they had a blast. John, Johnathon and Jake experienced great action, but this time it was mostly pike. Although they did catch several walleye, most of them had to be released because of their size. Only a couple of them went into the livewell, but the fishing was on fire. Unfortunately, so were the air temps and we had to raise the roof early in the morning, just for a little relief. Thankfully, we did have a good wind, which helped to some degree!
After trolling all morning, I decided to try for something a little bigger and managed to get them all a sturgeon. It damn near killed them, but it was worth it! They now had a big fish under their belt!
By afternoon, it was a real scorcher and I shifted gears once again in search of more walleye. I attempted to troll another section of the lake and it wasn’t long before a reel fired. Too bad it was a 23 incher and had to be released! I kept at it for a while longer but soon gave up due to all the floating vegetation. This grasslike weed is just unbearable! I was literally doing constant full rotations just to ensure the lines were kept clean!
Limited time remaining had me moving once again and I decided to try an area I hadn’t fished in quite a while. I also shifted to a dropshot and made several drifts over the rocks and multiple fish were missed and lost. They did manage to catch a few bass, but it should have been a lot more! There were also a few rigs lost as they weren’t familiar with this technique. Eventually we just ended the day and headed in.
Despite the high heat & humidity today, we stuck it out and fended quite well. They all slammed with multiple species landed and enjoyed spending time together. This was definitely a hot, but successful day of fishing!!
