The Heatwave Breaks
juin 22, 2024
Nick and his son Quintin were joined by Henri today and looking to catch some fish. We decided to start the day in search of pike & walleye and although a little slow in the beginning, they managed to get quite a few. Quintin was having a blast, reeling in all kinds of big fish, or so he thought!
I eventually moved to another area, casting for bass and Nick was the only one fortunate enough to hook up. Other fish were also missed, but not landed!
Quintin had wanted a big fish and I was able to put him on a huge sturgeon that beat him up for about 5 or 10 minutes. Henri had the same thing with another one and the two of them managed to bring both fish to the boat before the release!
We were experiencing poor winds and conditions and I thought we’d move to another area for more bass. Unfortunately, all that was landed from here was one nice walleye by Henri.
The winds were from the NE today and at times bigger than I would have liked. After one more unsuccessful stop for bass, they called it a day.
With the heatwave dropping today, came the switch in winds and the fishing changed too. The active fish became more lethargic and difficult to catch. We did however manage to grind it out and put plenty of fish in the boat. Overall. it was a great day!
