Tylor treated his father Mark to a day on the water for a birthday/Father’s Day/ Christmas gift and what a day they had! It took less than 3 minutes to hook up, but that was a decoy fish! We spent a bit longer searching for the second one. I covered plenty of water, both deep & shallow and managed to scratch at them before finally hitting an area that had more active fish. Both walleye & northerns came in and they even had a few double headers too! Water temps were as low as 61 degrees but the fish were biting!

Sometime after noon I decided to change locations as there was literally zero wind and those damn dog pecker knats were just insane. It felt good to get some air circulating! We went to another spot further away after hammering on the fish and I wondered if it was the right move. Water temps reached as high as 75 degrees here and I covered plenty of water looking for bites. Although there weren’t as many fish landed, they still managed to get several more pike and a few walleye for their efforts. It got so hot that I even had to raise the roof for the first time this season! At least we were somewhat comfortable in the shade, while trolling this afternoon!

With thunder storms brewing, we decided to call it quits around 2:30, when we began to hear thunder. I quickly packed everything up and headed back to the ramp to take out. Despite the slightly shorter than usual time out, there were still loads of fish landed. Overall, it was a great day on the water and Mark really enjoyed his gift. Tylor did as well as he tagged along for the day and benefitted from the tremendous present to his dad. The gift that keeps on giving!
