Three Generations This Morning

Yesterday’s weather cancellation had me back out this morning with three generations of fishermen. Jarrett had his son Jayden & his father Tony along for some smallmouth action. Although we got into several fish on our first spot, they were rather small in size. In fact more were lost tan landed when they just came unpinned!
We tried a few other areas afterwards, without much success and finally switched presentations completely. I even had them dropshot a spot, but soon pulled the plug on this as well and headed elsewhere!
The last stop had the best success with numbers of smallies being caught on a couple of presentations. I don’t think it was a location thing, but rather timing. The sun had been out all morning and warmed the water, triggering the bass to bite. By slowing down the speed of the retrieve, we were able to put many more fish in the boat and ended on a high. In fact, Jarrett landed the largest bass of the day on his last cast! I had stretched it out a bit due to the bite and finally called it just before noon!
