Quebec Fishing Reports
Tough Times TwoJune 30, 2026
Another day with a double-booking saw Cody, Magic and Goose in the morning and Cliff in the afternoon. It was also another scorcher as the temps rose above 90 degrees with sunshine and zero wind. To say It was hot would have been an understatement!
The morning gang managed to get into both bass and walleye, but the bite wasn’t great. We spent the entire 4 hours hitting several places to get it done. Tough bite this morning with more fish lost than landed!
This afternoon wasn’t much different with the loss of a couple of fish right off the start. From there, we moved around a lot and had the lost fish thing follow us around, until finally connecting on some nice walleye. This seemed like a pattern everywhere we went.
Overall, this day was one of the hardest, so far this season! Both trips today were a grind and the fish didn’t make it easy. They just kept coming off! In the end however, everyone had a good time sharing another beautiful day on the water with plenty of laughs along the way!!

Dead Calm ConditionsJune 29, 2026
Ming & his son Hugo were with me this morning, along with his sister and her husband. We began the morning trolling and despite the flat calm conditions, still managed to catch a few pike. They were wanting to cast so I didn’t stay long and headed to another area to accommodate them. Here we managed to get into both walleye and bass and remained until their trip was done. Half days go so quickly and before we knew it, we were on our way back to the docks to take out.
Although the fishing may have been slower than I wanted, the results were as expected. Flat calm, bright sun and plenty of floating weeds made for a tough troll. We were forced to cast for most of the fish that were boated today. Plenty of other strikes were missed too! Still a great time out on the water!!

A Perfect Sunny DayJune 28, 2026
Jonathan & his son Abel experienced another great day of fishing today. They started off with pike and walleye and managed to land a bunch of good ones. With the weather cooperating, for a change, they were treated to an almost perfect summer fishing day.
Late in the morning we switched it up and changed over to bass and eventually sturgeon. Both species were once again landed, making this an incredible father & son outing. They were only able to take one high end, barely legal walleye home with them, as everything else was above the size limit. Not a bad thing, but it would have been nice to get just one more keeper today!

Canadian VacationJune 26, 2026
Dimitri was in the boat today, from France and flying solo. For the second day in a row, the weather looked perfect and I knew we were going to catch fish. Hopefully several species he had never seen before too!We trolled for a while in the morning and managed to catch both pike and walleye. Some overs and some keepers came aboard and one of them even went into the well for his dinner tonight. The balance of the day was spent on bass and sturgeon and he managed to catch both of these as well. With very little wind and mostly sunshine, we had a picture-perfect day of fishing.Dimitri’s first trip to Canada was a great one as today’s outing was just the start to his vacation. He enjoyed fishing for some different species and managed to capture both walleye and smallmouth bass for the first time. I only hope that the rest of his stay will be equally as good as the start!!

Anything & EverythingJune 24, 2026
Yvan was with me today and flying solo! He was up for anything so we were going to do it all, starting with a troll. Flat calm conditions, for a change, greeted us and a couple of smallies were the first to come aboard. They had completed their spawn and officially moved offshore to bulk up. A pleasant surprise, but not really what I had expected from the place we were fishing! We held in the area and managed several more fish including pike, walleye and another smallie, before moving on.
The second spot yielded a bass, casting small cranks, on the very first cast. Although there were plenty of fish in the area, we only managed one more bass and a surprise, long nosed gar! It too ate the crankbait!
I tried a couple of other shallow spots for smallies and we only managed one bass on soft plastics. I found that the water closer to shore was quite stained and I think this was accounting for the lack of fish in the areas. Time for another changeup!
I decided to troll again and hit a weedy area nearby in hopes of a few more biters. We did manage another half dozen fish and this time they were all northerns. I think we had a walleye or two on the hooks but unfortunately, they didn’t stay pinned for confirmation!
As time was getting on, I decided to make a long run in hopes of bigger and better fish. I tried trolling again in this place but had to pull the plug quickly when I couldn’t keep the rods clean. The floating eel grass on the surface was so annoying that I relocated altogether to avoid the hassle.
This new area was definitely a lot better with almost zero floating vegetation. The wind had also picked up slightly, adding to the improvement. We trolled once again over key waypoints and ended with several more pike. The last fish to fire the reel turned out to be a high-end keeper walleye and signaled the end of our day. I always like to end on a fish and this was definitely the way, to call it a day!
Yvan may have been up to anything at the start of the day and everything was what he got! We covered plenty of water and caught many a fish in the process. In the end, he had slammed on the fish species and even saw an exotic one in the mix. The gar was definitely not something you see every day. Overall, it was a great day to spend on the water!!
