John, Isac & Gerry hit the water with me today on a great overcast day. For a change I wasn’t going to get fried! Winds were almost nonexistent so we started by dropshotting a big flat nearby. After only a couple of bass, and dealing with all the floaters, I decided to relocate to another spot further away. I was going to remain deep in hopes of better, quality fish!

Various depths were tried with almost no success and another move was necessary to get them into fish. I switched up to soft plastic baits and hit the shallows. It didn’t take long before everyone was into fish and it never ended. Plenty of smallies were caught, along with a few good walleye in the remaining time out. Too bad the weather had to change in the last hour and rain, otherwise it would have been a perfect day!

Today had a mix of emotions and fortunately I was able to piece it together and salvage the day. The deep-water bite had been exceptional lately, but not today. I made a decision early to switch to a shallow, casting technique and it worked out great. In the end, they all landed and lost plenty of quality fish. Overall, a winner of a day!!
