    Weedy & Windy

Stephan and his sons, Henri & Eli had another great day on the water today. What started out with flat calm conditions, soon turned into giant SW winds. Eventually blowing at 15 to 25 knots. The trolling bite was our only option and it proved to work out quite well. The boated pike, walleye and bass in numbers and had a great time doing it too. Firsts were caught all around, with pike and walleye before we ended the day. Our biggest problem would have to be all the floating weeds today. At times it was almost impossible to keep the lines clean! Overall, however, it was still a great day, with plenty of action to keep everyone entertained!!

    Big Fish Double

Morning and afternoon trips saw me on the water all day with two different groups. The first gang consisted of Laurent and his son Olivier as well as his nephew Ariel. We began dropshotting areas that held both bass and walleye and had some success with them. Unfortunately, the constant weeds on the line had us shifting gears halfway through their trip. I moved to another area where I began a troll. This proved to be much more effective as the big walleye were on fire. In the remaining time we had, they boated many more fish. Too bad we ran out of time as I left them biting!

The afternoon gang had Rodman, his father Rafael and son Rafi, as well as their friend William. I immediately headed back to where I had left biting fish and was surprised to see that they weren’t around anymore. I covered the area thoroughly with only one pike bite for our efforts! Time to move on.

I figured that I would continue trolling old waypoints until I found some fish and that I did. Eventually I ran into a few pike and Rodman got to do battle with the fish of his dreams. He had finally hooked into a small musky and was thrilled to catch his first one. After this, we resumed trolling and for the rest of the afternoon, hammered the walleye once again. Just like the morning trip, the walleye were quite plentiful. They even managed to take a few of the high-end keepers home with them.

Today was another great one for both groups and loads of fish were landed by everyone. Hopefully the next few days will be the same with the weather about to change. I’m sure I will have to make many more adjustments to be able to keep us on fish again. Only time will tell, but I will definitely do my best to satisfy everyone on board!!

    Another Day in Paradise

Scott and Frenchie enjoyed another day filled with plenty of fish. We may not have had the best conditions, with a big NW wind and an overnight cold front, but we fended alright. From walleye to bass and even one huge sturgeon, they caught fish all day long. Almost all the areas we fished held something and they definitely ended with a bang. On the last place we stopped, there were numbers of big bass landed on soft plastics to end with a bang. Frenchie definitely had the hot hand today but Sott held his own too! Just another day in paradise!!

    The Dropshot Drift

A morning trip today saw Stewart, Shawn, Brandon & Cole learning to use a dropshot. We had the right wind direction for a good drift and I took advantage of the areas I wanted to fish. I covered plenty of water and everyone had their fair share of bites. Both bass and walleye were taken this morning with all but 2 keepers released. Fortunately, we were able to dodge the rain before we were done. Another great trip with a bunch of great guys!!

    Casting For Bass

Dylan joined me today for a smallmouth bonanza! We targeted the brownies for the most part and hit them on every spot we fished. Despite the big west winds, we managed quite well with good numbers, including his first ever sturgeon. In the short time out during this half day, Dylan caught enough fish to make this a great day of fishing!
