Not much to report about today other than it was garbage! What was supposed to be a double trip day turned out to be a morning trip only, as I cancelled the afternoon clients! Big winds equal big waves and the water still hasn’t cleared up from all the rain and 100km winds from a couple of days ago. Oh the fish were still in the right areas but getting them to bite and slowing down enough for them to see, wasn’t easy!

Jean and his friend Rafa booked this morning and were completely new to fishing. I had thought that I would get them into a decent trolling bite but even at extremely slow speeds, the fish never ate. It wasn’t until we went down and drop shotted that they were able to finally get a bite. The winds were pushing us so fast that I had to slow down the drift with the electric motor. This also caused water to roll over the bow at times and made standing up front next to impossible for a newbie!

Despite fishing several areas, we did give it our best shot and managed to avoid the skunk. By 11:30 we were done and it couldn’t come fast enough for me! We ran back to the ramp in big waves that rolled 3 & 4 footers, crossways! The best part of the day was that I actually got my trailer lights fixed, thanks to Don! It turned out to only be a fuse making everything a quick fix! Now I can finally travel in the dark again!
